Who is an adult child?

The term ‘adult child’ is used to describe adults who have grown up in alcoholic or dysfunctional families and who have recognizable traits that reveal the psychological and sexual abuse and emotional neglect that we have suffered in childhood. This group also includes adults who grew up in families where there was no alcohol or drug abuse. These ACA members share the same traits as a result of abuse, neglect, shame, and abandonment.
